LIRR parking for Town of Hempstead??
We own in Levittown now, and aren't sure which stations we can use for free. I'm located in northwest Levittown, so the Hicksville station is closest to us. When we went to the Town of Hempstead town hall, and they told us we could get a free parking permit for either Seaford or Wantagh stations, but we had to go to Levittown town hall for that. We went to Levittown town hall to get our pool passes and asked about the station parking--they said we had to go to Hempstead town hall We told them we went already, but they said they don't issue parking permits.
We really don't know what to do. I figured I'd ask here so we don't keep getting a run-around of where to go and what our options are. We keep getting told different things.
Also, Bellmore is actually closer than Wantagh for us. So here are my questions--
1. Is there free parking in Hicksville? Do you have to pay in order to park closer? I was told we can't get a permit for their parking lot since they're Town of Oyster Bay.
2. What parking permits can we get being a Levittown resident?
3. Can we get a permit for Bellmore? Or is there enough free parking that it isn't a problem to park there? I heard that station is a lot bigger than Wantagh.
Thanks!!

Bellmore is 100% free all the time, no permit needed. (I grew up there, never a problem with parking although I can't guarantee your tires wont get stolen or something...happened to my ex 3 times).

I believe you can only park in Hicksville if you are a Town of Oyster Bay resident. I'm not 100% on this but I live in TOB and every train station that I know of, requires a TOB permit and you must live there...as far as i know. I know my husband did not want to move to Levittown due to the proximty of the train station as he used to take the train to Brooklyn every day. I do remember him telling me that if we lived in Levittown or East Meadow, we were not able to park at Hicksville as we would not be a TOB resident. Sorry I can't be of much more help but I wanted to share with you what I've heard. I believe any train station located in the TOB requires a TOB permit; as well as residence there.

I have parked in Hicksville for weekends and I'm pretty sure its TOB.... as I see stickers all over the place and a big board too stating the same.... I believe the parking itself is free if you are a TOB resident.

TOB = Town of Oyster Bay for Hicksville during the day you can park at the Broadway Mall if you don't have a permit... but they have signs up that they could tow your car.

So it's legal to park at Broadway mall to use the train? I ask because they may find your car is parked there all day.
Broadway mall is quite a walk to the station, isn't it?

Not really legal but you can get away with it for a period of time, yes its a few block walk. You are better off parking at Belmore

Which line is better? I thought Hicksville might be better since the trains seem to run more often going there. Which is faster too?

Port Jeff and Ronkonkoma branches go through Hicksville.... so in the peak hour Hicksville should be a great place to board as you will have a pretty good frequency of trains (atleast one every 10 mins, if not better).
I think the Port Jeff trains usually travels very slow, but after hicksville it should not matter at all.
