I whole heartedly agree with you dman.... because its an extreme case (murder and loss of human life) and there is no choice to do otherwise. The entire world looks up to the USA for the importance it puts on the value of human life.
What if there was a choice ? Lets say Mr. Jorge and Mr. Peter show up at the precinct at the same time reporting same issue with their neighbors, and there is just one cop available. We are saying that there is a 50% chance that the cop will go with Mr.Jorge.... good enough for me !!
How would we know that in reality it was 30% of the time, or 70% of the time ?.... anyway it was just some food for thought, I think I already overkilled it .

Zack was a student of mine...he had hopes of being one of the few in his family to graduate from high school.
As for gang affiliation, I can only repeat was told me by his friends (so credibility is obviously questionable). From what I had heard, he was in a gang and wandered into rival territory. Rumor is that he tried to get away, but then turned to try to stand up for himself. Obviously we know the rest. Don't know how true any of this is, but a 16 year old BOY is dead for no good reason at all...

Isn't the definition of gang an organized group of people creating harm to a person intentionally? The news itself says gang assault.
The reason I am concerned is that this mentality of getting together and attacking someone else is not just confined to local areas, it is also spilling over to nearby areas.

if you think 5 kids getting together and travelling somewhere to fight another group of kids equals "organized"....then sure...lol. I think most reasonable people can make the distinction between this and a true criminal enterprise.

that refers to the number of people involved...not whether or not they're in a gang. I think you know this.

this "mentality" is as old as the day is long. If groups of kids getting together for rumbles were all we had to worry about.....LI would be much better off.

Is your definition of gang the equivalent of a Mafia?
If these 18 year olds can beat up an innocent person in a public place like a railway station, what will be their next step..

Don't think I was making that point. The point I was making is that the bloods and crips are "gangs"....a bunch of teenages who beat up somebody at the train station are not. They're idiots who should be locked up or whatever...but they're not a gang.

Not sure. Maybe they'll come after YOU next!! Maybe they'll take over your whole block...and then you're whole neighborhood. The next step after that is world domination. We better nip this in the bud!

The Village of Westbury
can learn a lot from the town of Freehold, NJ, on how to deal with immigrants, and to stop the hate. This town has embraced them. They have opened a multitude of restaurants, and they seem to be prospering, plus the town is doing very-well economically. As a matter of fact, on October 3, there is going to be a free-concert in town, that has been organized by the immigrants.
These people need to be wanted and needed, so that they can keep their dignity. These are god-fearing people, who are very hard -working and family -oriented. They have built California, and many of its citizens could not keep their MacMasions, there, if it were not for the hard work of these people, who are willing to do all the back-breaking hard-work that our children are not willing to do.
Deny them of this, and you will get: graffiti galore, gangs to protect themselves from you, homelessness, and worst yet, the Candy Man will come to your front door to sell your kids drugs........
It is a well-known fact that the Village of Westbury has a problem, as evidenced by the media, and writings in the NY Times, with the immigrant Mexican population, and the recent killings of immigrants. Something has to be done........soon.
