Deer Park, Glenn Cove, Baldwin - maybe East Massapequa west of Carmans Road (you get the Massapequa mailing address but it's in the Amityville school district if that's going to be a deal breaker for you).

I have a friend who is a black physician and she lives in Freeport. She likes it a lot. I believe it is diverse. I think Elmont is also nice but it may be predominately black.

There is no such thing as "diverse" on LI.
You have either predominately black neighborhoods or predominately white neighborhoods. It's one or the other.
The problem is finding one of these neighborhoods that are more accepting of the opposite race. And there are many out there, fortunately maybe more than not.
But like I've said before in another thread, you could move into the most unbiased and friendly community on LI but end up moving on the same block or next door to the town racist. That's just the LI way, everything is basically a crapshoot.
Plenty of good people here, but also just as many Moderator cut: language

So yes while there are more whites in prison than blacks, a higher % of blacks are in prison than whites. Several factors for this. One of which is Reagan era drug laws, which resulted in basically the same drug having very different sentencing guidelines. This of course being the way cocaine and crack have been dealt with. You also have the socio-economic and poverty factor. Poverty and crime tend to go hand in hand (no matter what the race or ethnicity) blacks tend to have much higher poverty rates than whites. Socio-economic standing tend to be much greater indicators of crime than race or ethnicity.

Not only does being poorer and having more poverty lead to crime, but it also leads to more people being found guilty of crimes they didn't commit. Who do you think is more likely of being found guilty of a crime they didn't commit (or for that matter get off of a crime they did commit) someone with the ability to afford a high price lawyer or someone with a public defender?
Sometimes, I wish I lived in LaLa Land, too.
