The author of the article appears to be using demographic statistics for the "Rockville Centre, NY 11570" ZIP Code postal zone (2,529 acres), that includes areas outside of the Village of Rockville Centre (2,196 acres), including parts of the Hamlet of Lakeview, and applying them to the Village of Rockville Centre. Typical TIMES (as well as NEWSDAY) geographic error.

I believe I was confusing Lakeview with South Hempstead. Now I'm sure I remember that South Hempstead is at least partially in RVC schools? (But notice I still put a question mark )

Yes, part of the Hamlet of South Hempstead is in the Rockville Centre Union Free School District.
