Wyandanch rd, Sayville
We finally got a buyer for our condo, and we are looking at houses.
We looked at a house in Sayville on Wyandanch Rd. Really nice house!
Just looking for info on the area.........we aren't to familiar with Sayville, so i don't know what it's like in this particular neighborhood
Thanks!

Wow...congratulations. You finally found a buyer!! In my honest opionion I dont thing there is any "bad" areas of Sayville. Some parts may be less desirable b/c of traffic or being by the train station, etc. But there is not one place I wouldnt walk at nite in Sayville.

Decent area, but I haven't been down there in years. I suggest taking a drive there and looking around on the weekends and also on a friday or saturday night just to see if there are any hangouts around.
The only places I would avoid in Sayville/West Sayville are the areas near the tracks and right up against Montauk Highway. They're not bad, but you'd have to deal with train noise and the traffic on Montauk Highway.

The big hangout there is broadway avenue park. there are handball courts there, and handball courts draw trouble. This is much more of a problem for the people living on Broadway than the street you are looking on, as there are woods separating the houses from the park, although I can tell you that those woods are also sometimes a problem. The poor people who live across form that park have to deal with all manner of cars tearing out and people yelling and screaming.
There was a stabbing in the parking lot there a few years back It's a place where some thuggy characters meet to play handball, curse a lot, and sometimes, fight and deal drugs. Go there on a Friday or Saturday night if you don't believe me, I'm sure some people will say I'm exaggerating. It's true of anyplace where handball courts are put up.
Personally, I'd have no problem buying a house on that street as long as it doesn't back on the park.

For those who may not be familiar with Sayville
For those who may not be familiar with Sayville:
Sayville is a hamlet (an unincorporated area) in the southeast part of the Town of Islip, in the south-central part of Suffolk County.
Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Hamlet of Sayville in the Town of Islip is bordered on the north by the Hamlet of Bohemia and the Hamlet of Holbrook; on the east by the Hamlet of Bayport; on the south by the Great South Bay; and, on the west by the Hamlet of West Sayville, the Hamlet of Oakdale and the Hamlet Bohemia.
The Hamlet of Sayville has a different border than does the "Sayville, NY 11782" ZIP Code postal zone (i.e., a place can have a "Sayville, NY 11782" mailing address and not be in the Hamlet of Sayville): places that have a "Sayville, NY 11782" mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of Sayville are in the Hamlet of West Sayville.
For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): http://www.city-data.com/forum/long-...-resource.html
