Default Town of Huntington Property Tax Reduction

Has anyone heard about their property tax grievance. We were supposed to receive the outcome in late August -- still haven't received it.

I suggest you call the assessor's office and ask - ask for Bryan, he's the head honcho
Waiting for my results as well and expect either a denial or only a small reduction and am prepared for a possible appeal...

No. The assessment is performed by reviewing the submitted application and supporting data.

My neighbor grived and won - her taxes are SO MUCH less than mine - I am going to do it - WHEN do I start this process? I understand it is too late for 2011 - but when should I start the application?

Tax grievance day is in May. You should submit early so you aren't scrambling at last minute.

We filed a grievance too (TOH) and haven't heard anything. I had no idea when the verdict was due--was supposed to be late August, you say? Goodness... now I'll be on pins and needles going to the mailbox every day

Good Morning procfreq,

I would suggest that you call Huntington's assessor. You should've heard by now. You should also have your stamped receipt at hand.

This process is bull$hit. You may file a grievance on the basis that your houses is worth less than assessed. You may use as evidence an appraisal or the sale value of the house. I paid about $50k less than the assessed value of the home. On those grounds I grieved and was denied. There was no reason for the denial. They just do it as a matter of course. Then you are forced to appeal. I appealed and won.
