The shingles were falling apart. The roof was gray, but you could see black spots everywhere.

Also when it rained pretty hard we would sometimes get a small drip on the first floor, oddly enough, though nothing on the second floor.

The leak is gone and we have had no problems with the roof since.

I recommended them to a co-worker as well, I think he paid a little over 4,000 and they did a good job there as well. He had some estimates done and these guys came out the cheapest. He had a slightly more complex roof than ours so I guess that is why it cost more.

I just have to get home and get out the paperwork from them and I will PM you their info. If I forget please don't hesitate to nag me for it!

We just had ours replaced 3 weeks ago. Cost depends on your specific house.

My house is an old Victorian, about 1800 sq/ft. Complete rip-off. 3 layers. There are 3 sections of roof with angles and steep peaks; main house, kitchen and front porch. We got the 30 year architectural shingles and all new gutters.

It was just under $12,000.00. Took 3 days for the roof and the gutter guy came on day 4 - took him only a few hours.

WE GOT AN ESTIMATE ON OUR 1800SQFT RANCH FOR $6800 INCLUDING RIPPING OFF ALL LAYERS, REPLACING WOOD AS NEEDED, NO LIMIT MENTIONED, AND 30 YR architectural shingles. THE ROOFER LATER CALLED BACK AND SAID IF WE TOOK A SPECIFIC SHINGLE(BLACK) HE WOULD GIVE US 20% OFF.
THIS WAS A LOCAL, LICIENCED ROOFER.

Thumbs up Beware

I am a contractor (3 Brothers Roofing) in Columbus,Ohio. Here City code is 2 layers and than you have to remove it.3 layers adds a strain on your roof. I would recommend a tear-off. Also there is a scam going around "cheap roofing" but they use a second hand SHINGLES, you get no warranty with (they are a defected shingle, some are faded, some have streaks, etc). Plus there is no legal company and when they drive away there go's your labor warranty, because they sell out of their trucks, vans etc and they use a cell phones. Legal companies will offer you to come into their office to go over the contract, sign the contract and pick out your color.Go to my website index.html to read the do's and don't to hiring anyone. I hope I have helped, I wish you much success in your project. Kind regards Greg

Default Depends on sq foot

I found this post searching for roof costs. I guess the answer depends in the sq foot of your home. Rule of thumb, I would says its probably going to be around $5k to $7k - it all depends on the material that you go with and also the contractors that you pick.
