There are about 1,500 neighborhoods on Lawn Guyland!

There are 2 cities and 13 towns (as well as 2 Indian reservations) in the bi-counties and the 13 towns (3 in Nassau and 10 in Suffolk) are further sub-divided into 96 villages (municipal corporations) and 195 hamlets (unincorporated areas), yielding 293 communities (2 + 96 + 195 = 293), and each of these 293 communities include anywhere from 3 to 7 neighborhoods within its borders.

Farmingville and Mastic Beach I know for a fact have some pretty nice areas mixed in.
Why dont you throw out a price range for the house you want to buy instead of your pecking order on the social ladder. Perhaps then you might get some answers that make sense. You might even get some answers that dont involve people who dont live in my area bashing it.

Farmingville and Mastic Beach might have some nice areas mixed in, but they are not 'solid upper-Middle' class neighborhoods. Those of us who live on LI know that the two aforementioned areas are ethinically, economically, and racially diverse; indicating that the areas are not 'solid Upper-middle' class is not prejuidiced.

.

For those of you that dont understand, Solid upper middle class implies: spending enough money to land in an all white neighborhood with no racial or economic diversity. Because you wouldnt want to live next to the black people, spanish people or the white trash. I chose my neighborhood after careful weighing of my options but when I drove through one day and saw a white, black and spanish kid playing together it was a lock. I look forward to the day where color doesnt matter. Thinking like yours is holding us back. It shouldnt be tolerated anymore.

The phrase solid upper middle class is prejudice on its own. An people saying that these areas are areas to avoid is prejudice OK? I have alot of empty houses in my neighborhood right now that I would like to have filled with good neighbors. SO COULD YOU PEOPLE STOP TELLING PEOPLE THAT MY NEIGHBORHOOD IS CRAP? alot of people live in these areas and love them. For gods sake I'm just asking for alittle common decency and alittle more common sense.
And you don't think that saying that an area is "ethnically, economically and racially diverse and therefore not solid upper middle" isn't at all jaded? Obviously money doesn't buy intelligents or integrity.
There was more crime when I lived in Huntington Bay than there is here. First week I lived there I was 17 years old and my car got broken into in the driveway and my radio was stolen. Then I found out that all the other kids were into cocaine...and another kid down the street was selling it. I saw more crime and drugs in that neighborhood than I do in the one I'm in now.
But this is why I asked if you could start with a price range for a house that your looking for. What is considered solid upper middle? 450 thousand? 650 thousand? a million?
do you have a Honda, BMW or a Mercedes? that might help. Perhaps if I knew what kind of watch you wear and what kind of restaurants you eat at then I might be able to put a dollar amount on the house your looking for. Do solid upper middle class people eat steak every day?
I wouldn't know being racially and ethnically diverse over here in the non indicated area With the hard working people in mastic beach. Who continue to get beat up and bashed by people who don't live here and probably don't even know the people next door where they do live.
keep telling yourself your not biased,
its working.

Screams ordinary to me.
You can find that in just about any coastline town on LI.

Its a typical south Nassau working class town by majority.

Nice town...nothing more.

Sorry KGuido.

When you take people to task because they don't see Mastic Beach to be what you find it to be, you are biased. You haven't shown us anything to support your assertions that Mastic Beach is a 'solid middle upper class' area. You've spewed the rhetoric about who wants to live next to whom. Perhaps you should know who you are responding to.

I am Hispanic and I live in a 'solid upper middle class' area. I grew up in a home where my mother was subjected to racism and where my sibling and I were left out of many goings on because we weren't white -- that was Levittown, FWIW. Please don't try and teach me about bias.

My immediate neighbors are born in China, Poland, Japan, Italy, USA, Serbia, Africa, India, Saudi Arabia. My friends are all colors and are teachers, surgeons, dentists, carpenters, lawyers, corporate execs, SAHMs, doctors, research scientists, university administrators, etc.

Almost everyone is college educated and holds one or more degrees. We have the same values with regard to education and work ethic, and many share the same political ideologies.

A 'solid upper middle class' area tends to have educated individuals, more white collars, and as the trend continues individuals of all races who earn over a certain amount each year. It no longer means Bastion of Whiteness.

It's not about the watch you wear, the car you drive, the restaurant you eat in. ANYONE can lease a Mercedes, BMW, Lexus. There once was a time when having a luxury import meant you were of the means. Not anymore.

Mastic Beach has mix of individuals or all races, educational attainment and income as well. But for some strange reason, not many choose it over the Three Village area. Why is that?

Why do more people prefer the 'crime-ridden' 'drug-infested' Huntington Bay area over Mastic Beach?

Ill take your word for it.

Im not saying Massapequa doesnt have its share of high end, but my family live on the water in Massapequa and its pretty working class.
Most of their neighbors rent out their canal access to offset the oppressive taxes.Lots of City cops union guys etc.

Again solid town.
I just wouldnt call it Solid Upper by majority.
