How stringent is FHA in terms of house requirements? The home I'm looking at is in diamond condition. What is the probablity that FHA would mandate changes to the house? Thanks in advance

The only way to really know is to wait for the outcome of an inspection. Things like railings, CO's and little details like that are what make FHA's different than conv loans.

as mentioned above, I've always heard that railings on outdoor stairs are a big one. Also, peeling paint. It has to be livable as is... so no concrete unfinished floors, no gutted rooms etc.

I got an fha mortgage in july - the house didnt have a co for a new sunroom and or an attached shed. i was panicking about both but didnt want to insist that the seller get the co and possibly raise the taxes. the fha appraiser never questioned either, the whole mortgage process was extremely smooth.

FHA Approval isn't as bad as it used to be. They're not as strict as most people remember them.
