Man, even BofA isn't that bad compared to what you described.

The woman a few offices down went through a similar situation with BoA. I was talking with her and she said they have some similar policies -- it would have been close and convenient, but the last thing I want is more nonsense.

I will be heading to Suffolk and TFCU tomorrow to learn more about their products.

We are very happy with Bethpage and Smithtown Savings.

I've had my accounts with TFCU for years. I used to also have a 'conventional' bank - but after events such as you've described, I've been with TFCU and Suffolk Federal CU since. Would never go back to a 'conventional' bank again.

For your upcoming CD, you might want to look into ING online.

With regard to the Chase CC problem, I would call up and explain/request reversal of the charges; speak to a supervisor, if necessary!

Good luck!
I hate Bethpage federal credit union. I have my car loan through them...their customer service is horrible and I generally have to call up and ask for my payment book every october when it runs out about 4 times before they actually send it to me. They are nice and mean well, they are just very incompetant.

Another thing that I like about citibank is that when you call up, you can actually speak to an american!! I call up about my capitalone credit card, and I get a call-center in India and I have to say "what? what? what?" every 5 minutes b/c I can't understand the damn accent.
