Default Moving to Uniondale LI

I curently work in NYC and want to purchase a condo in Uniondale in Nassau county. Is Uniondale a good area to live? Is it safe? Ethnically diverse? How will I cummnute to the city from Uniondale? Would you advice anyone to live there? Thanks for your responses.

Why do you want to live in Uniondale? Are the housing prices lower there? If they are it's for good reason - not the best area to be living.

It's not diverse, it's almost all black. It is better than Hempstead, with a higher percentage of homeowners, but I don't know if I'd call it a GOOD area.

I just Move to Uniondale last year,So far it a good area ,But as far as gangs and drugs are concerned the police got the area lock down they are alway on patrol. There not a lot of blacks there more latino and mexican in Uniondale. So if you don't live in the area don' judge it on hear said.

Hispanic is probably the majority nowadays but it's still pretty mixed with blacks and whites. It's definitely not the best spot on LI but it's not "the ghetto" like most of these posts indicate. Still, it's not your best bet if you can afford somewhere else - closest LIRR station is Hempstead and with traffic that's not close at all.

Where are these condos in Uniondale? I can give you a better picture of the neighborhood if I know specifically what area.

Uniondale is not the "ghetto." People on long island throw that term around way too much.
