Bellmore-Merrick to Westchester
Anyone do this commute on a regular basis? How bad is it? Mapquest says 37.8 miles and 55 minutes. How accurate is this?
I am usually out of the house by 6:15-6:30 and on the way home after 3?

Where in Westchester? Big difference between, say Larchmont and Bedford. IT's like asking how long will it take you to get to Suffolk County - Huntington, or Montauk, KWIM?

I think that might be do-able at that time of day in 60 minutes or so. I used to go to Mt. Kisco from Huntington and it never took me more than 90 minutes - not necessarily at rush hour, but at all different times of day.

I do that trip regularly. If there is no traffic at all, it can be done in an hour.
The Cross Island/Throgs/Hutch traffic can get ugly, fast though. There have been times it's taken me 3 hours, and I'd say it averages around 2.
The 3PM Trip back will be worse than the 6AM trip there, I'd say.

at 6-630, you'll be fine...
at 7-730, bring a book...
I've done the trip up to white plains town for a month or so. If I left by 630, I'd get in easy before 8. If i left at 715-730, the trip would take 2.5-3 hours.
Don't know about leaving at 3, I always left somewhere between 8 and 11.
