Deny it if you want to but it is true. I felt the divide when I lived there.

umm yea im only 14 nd i currently live in east massapequa nd yes i have to go to amityville i live right on the border on carmans mill rd nd i live right across the street from the middle school and as a kid i think that it is kind of ridiculous that we have to go to amityville. My parents are trying to move but we cant even sell our house because everytime someone calls nd asks about the school district and we say its amityville they dont want to hear anything else they just hang up so i guess we are stuck here.

My Aunt and Uncle came from Brooklyn in the 1960's bought a house in East Massapequa assuming it was Mass. schools, what a surprise, even back then my Aunt said it took her 5 years to sell the house at a loss! Amityvill does have some nice places, but the point of the unaccounted Long Islanders is a very good one, it is really taking a toll on healthcare, and schools.

There are 3 bi-county school distircts that are partly in Nassau County and partly in Suffolk County: Amityville, Farmingdale and Cold Spring Harbor, and interstingly all 3 same-named postal zones, Amityville, NY 11701, Farmingdale, NY 11735 and Cold Spring Harbor, NY 11724, are also partly in Nassau County and partly in Suffolk County.
At the time these school districts were formed in the 1800s, consideration of county borders were not as important as other factors, such as where the population was situated at that time.

What is your source?
The Hamlet of East Massapequa in the Town of Oyster Bay has been in Nassau County since Nassau County seceded from Queens County on January 1, 1899: according to information from the Nassau County Planning Commision, as well as from the Suffolk County Planning Department, no part of the the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County was ever part of the Town of Babylon in Suffolk County.

I remember going to Berner Junior Senior High school in '66 and looking across Carmen Mills Road and thinking those kids on that side of the street are in a different school district. Berner was built on the filled in swampland at the extreme eastern end of the school district.

Take a ride through East Massapequa. It certainly appeared mostly black. Take a drive around by Clocks Blvd.

East Massapequa is likely only around 10-20% black, it's much bigger than what people refer to it as.
