Why would someone living in East Massapequa, a hamlet, pay Massapequa, also a hamlet, town taxes?

East Massapequa is in the Town of Oyster Bay. Were you referring to Town of Oyster Bay taxes?

When I Grew Up In Massapequa Some 340 Years Ago There Was No East Massapequa. That Was Called Amityville. That Is Why East Massapequa Is In The Amityville Sd. Someone Had West Amityville Changed To East Massapequa To Sell Houses.

While you may have not been aware of the existence of East Massapequa because of a non-conforming "Massapequa, NY 11758" ZIP Code postal zone that has a different border than does the Hamlet of Massapequa (there are places that have a "Massapequa, NY 11758" mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of Massapequa) and has always included parts of East Massapequa in its service area, but prior to 1990 there was both an East Massapequa and a West Amityville, and concomitant with the 1990 Federal census, West Amityville was made part of East Massapequa.
