Stonington Condos in Port Jeff Station
Looking to move to these condos -- just wondering if anyone know if there are children or teenagers in there - would like to have other kids in there for my 13-year old son. thank you.

I wouldnt go that far, it aint what it used to be but theres still a few nice areas in Terryville.
The schools have really lost a step over the last decade and the day laborer population is exploding up by the rail.
Go spend an evening at the Pathmark and ask yourself if these folks are who you want for neighbors.
Maybe shop around.I imagine you could get a starter house nearby in Sound Beach with much better schools for the same money.
Best of luck

Thanks - the condos are right on the border of Port Jeff Station and Setauket so it is a really nice area -- I am just concerned about who my neighbors might be at the condo complex. Just thought anyone might know if there are other children living there. thank you.

Comsewogue SD is not on par with Three Village. If you have a child and move there and think you are getting similar education to your neighbors because the area looks nice, it's not quite that easy. You're getting an education more on par with Middle Country Schools.

You lost me here. Dont all the long island schools teach the same & use the same textbooks? One school may have lower school ratings but thats b/c of the student body makeup, no?

There are very few schools on par with Three Village - that said, Comsewogue is fine - their ratings suffer because not all the parents can afford private tutors to help raise the grades, like they do in Three Village -- I understand that my neighbors don't reflect the quality of the school district.

Does a student move around the hallways, the buses, the cafeteria in a bubble? If you think that the other students in a school have no effect on your child, you're being very...very... naive.
There is to some extent in all schools, an element that is anti-education. That element is larger in Comsewogue than in Three Village. It may have no effect on your kid what so ever. Yes, everything can be overcome by good parenting, and your kid can go to Three Village and end up being a heroin addict. We're not speaking in anecdotes here, we're talking about as a whole, in general, what schools are like.

All great points and I agree with you, but in this climate with all the dope and drama, if you can give a kid a running start it sure wont hurt.
Keep in mind that even the worst district on LI is still better than most elsewhere.
I'm just saying the greater PJ Sta area has been on a slow and steady decline (like Huntington Station) since the 90s.There are still a few good pockets but nice complex or not you still going to have to go beyond the gates sometime.
Do your DD and proceed with caution. I do know folks who live in Terryville(by the condos, which BTW look beautiful) and are very happy.
Good luck
