personally, I have had no problems with Meenan. I had no hot water one day and they came within 2 hours and repaired the problem.

There are still many companies offering contracts. Try Windsor Fuel, Meenan, Ranshaw and Petro. I just renewed my contract with Windsor.

Before I converted to gas I had Windsor and liked them as I did Hart Petroleum. I didn't like Slomins because they charged the highest prices of any company. You may want to go into BJs because they have arrangements with fuel companies.
In the long-run, you will be better off converting to gas, if you can.

When I bought my house it had an old burner and being a new homeowner, scared the hell out of me.
I had an oil contract for a while and had to use the service aspect of it a few times . Once the burner on my hot water heater (Actually reset module) was replaced for free, I realized they weren't scary things and I have no problem dealing with things when they go wrong. What i'm saying is once your system is operational and given a clean bill of health, you really don't need a contract. You will be paying more for oil-period-if you have a contract.
Of course, having a new burner helps too.

I had them and they were competitive the first year, then the second year not at all. I asked them to work with me a bit on a better contract price and they would not budge. I told them I was going to shop around and they said go right ahead.
After shopping around and getting a much better price from a local guy who came highly recomended, I called to cancel............Boy, did things change, now they wanted to talk about a better price. Well it was too late, I told them they had there opportunity and they chose not to work with me. I guess they figured I was bluffing.
I still get stuff from them wanting us back.....The guy I have now is Larry's Fuel Oil in Greenlawn, excellent, no complaints about them whatsoever.

We had Perillo before we converted to gas and they were very good. We used them a-plenty before we converted since our system was old as the hills.

check out the heat usa buyers group - they contract through some local vendors, mine is Port Energy, and control the price the company can set above cost on a daily basis. You get a full service contract, paya $30 yearly membership, and $16 for each extra zone. No set price or ceiling, you simply pay the price the day of your fill up. We signed up, had Port there within a couple of days for a system review, the guy educated me on the system, then we recieved a fill up a few days ago. Seemed to be priced just right.
