Pro-bono/Legal Aid lawyers in Suffolk?
Long story short, my sister got into some trouble upstate then left NY without mentioning that she had a pending court date. I thought it was cleared up since she paid restitution and it was a minor charge. Anyway, she is planning on going back up and turning herself in but I want to talk to a lawyer first so we understand the process (her public defender up there sucks).
Can anyone recommend a pro-bono/legal aid type attorney that I could set up an appointment with? Whatever info you provide is good since I've never been through this process and have no idea where to start. Unfortunately I don't know anyone connected with the legal field.
Thanks for your help...
