Marran or Petro oil?
As a new homeowner in Farmingville with oil heat, I have basically narrowed my chosses down to Marran or Petro. I will likely be getting a contract with a ceiling price. This is more for piece of mind right now, though I know COD might be the way to go, but I just can't ignore the possible service need in the dead of winter.
Anyway, any reviews on the 2 companies would be appreciated, or if there is a better alternative out there that I missed, I would be happy to hear the info. I am at a third of a tank (250 gallon), right now. So I need to make this decision fairly quickly.
Thanks in advance

Had Marran for 17 years in my last house (currently have gas).
Very satisfied all around - fair pricing, GREAT service when I needed it (night, weekend - no matter) and within a reasonable time, i.e. a few hours. They make good on everything they promise!
If I ever have another house with oil - for me it'll be Marran, period.

I switched from Petro to Blue Flame. They let you lock in for the winter at a much lower price than Petro. Petro will try to talk you into the price with a ceiling as their lock in is very high. I was able to negotiate a credit that offset the cost of my service contract. I locked in when oil was at $70 a barrel so I'm not sure what they will offer you now. I was told Petro buys their oil from Blue Flame.

Blue Flame is owned by the General Utilities - 800-647-9499 General Companies
Salesman that helped me- 516-369-1154 Don't worry about the 516 exchange he works in Suffolk. I shopped around and they were the cheapest other than the cod companies. They have a budget plan as well but I think your too far into the season for that. Good luck.

I believe it was around $100 but as I mentioned in an earlier post I negotiated with them and got a credit that offset the cost of the service contract.
