Rockville Centre - left, right or center?
It's me, the liberal/progressive. Apologies to all!
Smash255 - In a previous thread you indicated you have access to voting data. I am considering the village of Rockville Centre. Might you have any voting records on this community, or point me in the right direction? Many thanks in advance.

The Village of Rockville Centre is the Cathedral "town" of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre, that includes all of Nassau and Suffolk Counties, except for the island Hamlet of Fishers Island in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County which is in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Norwich.

Thanks for the hijack, Walter. I am referring to the town of Rockville Center, where people live and work. Does anyone know which way the politics slant there? Any direct experiences? Many thanks.

What hijack?
You asked for whether Rockville Centre was left, right or center?
Being that the Village of Rockville Centre is the headquarters community of the Roman Catholic Church for Nassau County and almost all of Suffolk County, this should give you some idea about the general leanings of the community.

Actually, you're referring to the Village, not town, of Rockville Centre in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County.
http://www.city-data.com/forum/new-y...-glossary.html may be of some help to you in understanding the geography of "Lawn Guyland".
Turning to your search for a secular, progressive and liberal community:
To the immediate west of the Village of Rockville Centre -- it's within the "Rockville Centre, NY 11570" ZIP Code postal zone but it's not in the Village of Rockville Centre -- you'll find the Hamlet of Lakeview in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County: truly a secular, progressive and liberal community.

LOL @ Lakeview
Fastpitch...I don't know what to tell you anymore. You've been on the boards for quite a while in search of that liberal panacea. However, you've yet to find a match. Perhaps, it's not here.
If you are willing to compromise a bit though and live with some moderates, we may be able to find something.

Looks like they have given up on the "racially diverse" towns if they are interested in RVC ... people may "say" that's what they want but then back off because that's not really what they want but it sounds good or because the types of minorities they dislike outnumber the types of minorities they like. I just ended up in one and did not find it to be bad at all.
Will they sacrifice and deal with moderates next?
Who knows.
***sigh***
I hope these aren't the "limousine liberal" types.
PS: to OP, Rockville Centre is a conservative stronghold and a stronghold of religious right IMO.

And, that's exactly why I "hijacked" this thread by posting that the Village of Rockville Centre is the Cathedral Town of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre.
