I have Oil heat. My electric bill would be 140 month. But that is without the surcharge. Which then puts me in the 200 area or better. And we are never home. Work long days. 1 light on at the most.

Disconnect from LIPA with SOLAR power
Everyone is complaining about the high rates but they don't get themselves separated from the insanity of the rate structure! LIPA will pay you to get off of their system, as much as $37,500 in rebates just to get solar powered. Plus you'll get another $7,000 in tax credits too!!

Oil heat, 3 thru wall ACs, electric range & dryer.
LIPA bills for 12 months (electric only):
Jan - $219
Mar - $254
May - $212
July - $262
Sep - $475
Nov - $371
Total - $1793.....about $150/mth
Oil looks to be a little more...close to $2k in past 12 months. This winter is going to hurt though...last fill-up of 200 gal was $630.

Nice! Maybe he is originally from LI. Cut the guy a break, he is just saying how ridiculas Keyspan/Lipa is, with there crazy rates and crazier rate increases, with no end in sight.

3 bedroom ranch, CAC May/June-September/October, humidifiers December-February/March due to fireplace usage, 2 small fans year round for "white noise" and other modern conveniences........and we're paying 150/month. Please don't tell LIPA, they're bound to come see what's up

For some reason, my electric bill is pretty cheap.
Average per month over the course of the year
2007: $90
2006: $69
2005: $75
2004: $63
3 adults, 1 infant
2100 sq. feet, 19yr old house, central a/c, mostly saving light bulbs, giant screen plasma tv, all brand new (supposely more efficient) fridge, washing machine, electric dryer, & dishwasher.

I have a 1200sqft ranch, CAC, no pool, a couple of computers and a few tv's - 2 of them are flat screen lcd. I admit that i may leave lights on, fall asleep with the tv on and it stays on all night and leave my computer on but on average my bill was 340 a month for the last year. That is just wrong......
