Lost front license plate
I need to replace my front plate before a trip over Thanksgiving! Is this difficult or time consuming to do? It was a personalized plate!

You need to report your plate lost at the Police Precinct and surrender the remaining plate and get new license plates.

My husband went through that and had to do waht KWAC wrote.
Make sure to file the police report immediately if you haven't already done so.

OK, thought I'd give y'all an update! Called the police precinct, and was told I had to make out a report in person. So I toddled down there and was told that I don't have to report it since the plate was LOST. If it was stolen, that would be different. I'm assuming that it was ripped off by someone's tire, since there's marks on my bumper. But, really, how would I know??
Now, since this new plate deal has come into effect, I want to fly under the radar until my reggie is due, and get two new plates with my cherished vanity number!

You might get a ticket for having only one license plate. Hopefully you will be able to slide by until the new registrations.

I've heard they usually won't stop you just for that, but it may be one of those add-on tickets if they had another reason to stop you (moving violation).
So many people buy cars requesting no front plate holder even be punched into their brand new bumper.

Yeah probably an add on ticket like not wearing a seatbelt can be.
I can see that in some states where people only get 1 plate, but in NY we are required to have both one on the front and one on the back.

the plates have to be attached on the front and back as well. if you put one in your windshield, the cops will ticket you for it.
