Default Has anyone done the LI to Oswego drive?

I need an idea as to how long this is going to take. DS is going up for a tour and I need to know how much drive time (and caffeine to allow for coming from Stony Brook.

Mapquest is telling me close to 7 hours; I've driven up to Pulaski for fishing and it has been a shorter ride than that, just wondering if maybe mapquest is giving me a default time at 55mph.

Actually 6 or 7 hours sounds right. 55/65 MPH, pee pee and gas breaks, munchie stops...You always try to do everything at once to stop less frequently, but it don't always work out that way

Ah, my alma mater. Are you going up 17 to 81 or through PA and Jersey? The PA/NJ route seemed a little faster but my dad later became partial to the NYS Thruway to Syracuse, then 81. I came to prefer that way myself because I like to stop often. So to answer your question, I'd say closer to 7 hours. Have fun! Try to get a meal at Canales if they are still open- best Italian anywhere!

Thanks! I was considering GWB 4/17/thruway(NJ to the first tolls) to Quickway/81.

My next question is -- once outside of Syracuse, what's the best way up to Oswego?
