You honestly could get amazing homes (not with too much land, but that would be good for lower taxes) if you went to an agent right now and asked to see some property fitting that criteria. Again, you may not be right on the water, but close enough, and you can, with your budget, be in the Manhasset/PortWashington area easily. Maybe even Sands Point. I saw a home for sale there for less than 2 million back in September. Sea Cliff is nice, but far. Roslyn Harbor would be a nicer option in my opinion. Sea Cliff is close to Glen Cove...and parts of it are a little shady. But again, not the part you would be in.
