Default Anyone remember Custom Bakers in Island Park?

Does anyone remember Custom Bakers in Island Park? Their cakes rocked. My uncle would come all the way from Northport to buy and cake. When they sold it the new owners must have changed recipes. They went out of business fairly quickly. I am yet to find a place that can make a cake like Custom Bakers.

Very true. I was a little boy 45 years ago and remember the incredible 3+ layer Chocolate Cakes they made! In a word, wow! Agreed, they aren't many left like Custom Bakers, small waiting area, place looked like a burger stand from the outside. Incredible smells on the inside though! - Paulie C. Duluth, GA

Huh?

You might be thinking of a different Jewish Biblical Festival because bread ain't permitted on Pesach (PEH-sahkh, PAY-sahkh = Passover).

Wow- Thanks for reviving the post. I actually googled Customer Bakers/ Julius and Harveyr Telowitz the a couple of weeks ago. I found a tread on another website in which the Grand Daughter of one of them responded. She has been toying with the idea of opening her own bakery. Apparently nobody will give up the recipes to her. Bummer!!!

i totally miss that place big time. Ive serched high and low for one similar, but cant find any. Those owners rose and julius telowitz must have taken the formula with them to the grave. Every other cheese cake tastes like one another. Thiers was only one like it. They also made a nesselroad pie.
