Read several articles and watched numerous videos on antiquing kitchen cabinets and I am still not sure on what to do. Every article and every video has a different technique. My question for anyone who has done this or has painting experience, Can i leave oil based wood stain on a painted cabinet as a finished product, will the stain hold to wear and tear? Or should I use a glaze stain mix, or do i need to finish with a sealer?

Thank you in advance for any help.

I really don't think oil based stain will stick to a painted surface , your best bet is to contact a kitchen cabinet company that actually makes and finishes cabinet for a accurate answer . Sometimes it's better off to hire a pro to do something as involved as cabinet refinishing , good luck and happy holidays

Thanks Panic and ENFD, I figured someone on Long Island would have an answer for me, I'm finding out the hard way, that DIY projects, some are best left to the professionals. Did not like the outcome and decided to paint them. Much easier.
