I'm considering going to school to become an Ultrasound Tech (sonographer) - I'd like to specialize on the cardiac side instead of the obgyn side of things.
What I'd like to know is:
1. What is the best school on LI?
2. How hard is it to get a job in the field after you've finished schooling and testing?
3. What are the starting salaries in the area?
4. Would anyone be willing to talk with me about the real ins and outs of the job? I know the schools are going to be heavy into recruiting and are going to tell you all the wonderful aspects, but I want to get a more balanced picture.
Thanks for reading! Hope to hear from someone soon!
Ok I'm going to say Radiology is a better bet job wise. Semi-saturated like US but you can do so many other things. MR,CT, Mammo, Interventional, EP, Cardiac Cath. many different areas. I'm in Inverventional with 3 years in the field I'm at 71k base with almost 100k after OT. Good luck.
