Wondering if anyone can help? I'm looking at some properties in North Babylon which are located north of the southern state parkway, one is just west of belmont lake and the other is just east of deer park ave. Any opinions on these areas would be appreciated. thanks.

West of Belmont lake, Don't bother. East of DPA, pretty good area. More so if your south of weeks road.

Default For those who may not be familiar with North Babylon

For those who may not be familiar with North Babylon:

North Babylon is a hamlet (an unincorporated area) in the southeast part of the Town of Babylon, in the southwest part of Suffolk County, along the Babylon/Islip town line.

Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Hamlet of North Babylon in the Town of Babylon is bordered on the north by the Hamlet of Deer Park; on the east by the Hamlet of West Islip in the Town of Islip (the Babylon/Islip town line); on the south by the Village of Babylon; and, on the west by the Hamlet of West Babylon.

The Hamlet of North Babylon has a different border than does the "North Babylon, NY 11703" ZIP Code postal zone (i.e., a place can have a "North Babylon, NY 11703" mailing address and not be in the Hamlet of North Babylon and a place can have other than a "North Babylon, NY 11703" mailing address and be in the Hamlet of North Babylon): places that have a "North Babylon, NY 11703" mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of North Babylon are in the Village of Babylon and the Hamlet of West Babylon; and, at the same time, there are places in the Hamlet of North Babylon with a "West Babylon, NY 11704" and "Babylon, NY 11702" mailing address.

For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): Excellent Long Island Geographic Resource

Just took another drive around the area, it doesn't look bad. I saw a sign around the property that says Belmont Lake Estates, anyone familiar with this area in particular. Its W Babylon with N Babylon schools. Main concern is if it is a safe area?

Night time, weekends and when schools let out are a good indication of the behavior of the local residents. We all have different ideas/tolerances when it comes to safety and other things; your own reaction/opinion should be paramount.

Good luck in your search!

yeah, I agree. I want to drive around during school dismissal and maybe over the weekend at night, just wanted some insight from someone who may live in the area or knows of the area.
