I followed the exact same route on the way home last night and hit an hour of traffic at 7:30 PM!! This commute normally takes me 5-7minutes.

Why weren't there any plows out working during the day yesterday? After seeing how bad the morning rush was, you would think ole' Brookhaven would have sent the plows out in full force midday to avert the same disaster at night.

So, my wife sends me on errands (aka Xmas shopping) at 830pm last night to Target near Roosevelt Field.

I'm thinking...it's almost 9pm...no big deal. There won't be too much traffic.

My home to RF is about 4 miles. It took me ONE HOUR to get there. No joke. What a nightmare. Old Country Rd was backed up from RF all the way back to the Mineola Courthouses!!!

Why does every household in LI have to own 3 or more cars?? It's just ridiculous.

I don't think I will ever go to RF again between Dec 20th and January 1st.

The Canary Island tsunami theory. We'd all be dead if that ever happened.

But I do agree that'd it'd be a very tough evacuation, 7-million Long Islanders over less than 10 bridges/tunnels, they'd have to start evacuating people from very early on.
Another reason to then to make the bridge to Connecticut...
