wow, what a concept. Does this apply to every community that borders Baldwin? Using this logic, the same crime is everywhere on LI!
Lol, yeah so does that mean that since Hempstead has a a lot of crime, so does Garden City?

... I think Baldwin has a better community neighborhood feel too... As for crime, Baldwin and Oceanside border each other what ever crime is going on in Baldwin is going on Oceanside...
Roosevelt and Freeport border Merrick. I don't think they have the same crime. Are criminals afraid to cross the Meadowbrook?

I find it incredibly interesting that several of you apply so much effort to trashing Baldwin. I've read plenty of your posts and don't find much positive in anything you write. If you want to spend all your time posting links to crime statistics in Baldwin - that I have not denied for a second - feel free. Your purpose for this? While you're at it, research Oceanside and RVC. Stabbings, bank robberies, home invasions, drugs, beatings, etc., etc., have all taken place in both of these communities on a repeated basis as well - and they have for years. Anyone who lives here knows it. Both of these places would be considered safe to live - RVC being considered highly desirable. The reason I'm not going to start wasting my time with links to this crap is that I've come onto this board to give a balanced view of Baldwin being a nice place to live and to state that there are plenty of people living here that I'm happy to share my neighborhood with. I'm not trying to bring down any surrounding towns by posting the negatives about them. It's really curious that people who've either left Long Island, or are stuck here and miserable, have nothing better to do than to try and trash a community that clearly has strong support by the people who ACTUALLY live and work here.

I'm offended. I'm an equal opportunity trasher.
I talk smack about many different communities equally.

I was a long term resident of the Oceanside/RVC/Baldwin area.
I think I am entitled to give my perspective.
And, what is up with all the new forum members lately?

I never lived in Baldwin and was only in Oceanside when I was a baby but I've been to both places so many times that I think I know them well enough to make some opinion.

MEDIAN HOUSE PRICE
Baldwin is way more affordable than Oceanside.

PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Oceanside schools typically rank a lot higher than Baldwin schools. Neither district is particularly stellar though.

APPRECIATION
Oceanside house prices are increasing at a higher rate than Baldwin house prices- so if you want to move somewhere else someday- Oceanside is your better bet.

CRIME
Well.. I lived in Durham, NC for four years and that place is a true ghetto...
Oceanside and Baldwin don't compare but there seem to be nice/dangerous areas in both places.

Overall, Oceanside seems a little safer.

Ha! My old man just told me he got a letter from everybody's favorite celebrity supervisor, Ms. Kate Murray regarding Oceanside.
Evidently they just busted some massage parlor's in Oceanside with uh, you know, "happy endings" and drug use/sales etc...
I didn't know Oceanside even had one massage parlor, but 2? Anyway, they had a stakeout on these places over the past few months and finally busted them for prostitution, drugs, etc, the usual stuff associated with "massage parlors", and practicing massage's without a license. I'm gonna read the letter when I go to his house.

It sparked my curiousity, so I did a search looking for more info, and guess what else I found?
Escort services, Oceanside NY 11572. Here were some of the Names...
Asian Joy, Top Asian Beauty, and Hot East Asians. Only 1 showed an actual address, the others were phone #'s only.
I'm still shocked. What the hell is going on?

^^^
Invasion of the third world prostitutes.

Mommy and daddy sold them into sex slavery as children back in Bangkok, etc., and they are continuing their livelihood well into old age from 5 years old doing oral sex (I saw on a TV show that they train the kids to call it "yum yum" and to call intercourse "bang bang") to grannies managing the brothels/massage parlors.

Less quality immigrants these days, that's for sure. Men, you never know what your mail-order/internet "bride" has been up to all her life ...
