If the city actually mattered to OP then I'd say Babylon Village.

Nassau would def. not be a better bet or buy.

It is if you are traveling alot. I go to AC practically every other weekend. I like being closer to the parkways that get me there.

why exactly are you focusing on the south shore? If it's for beach/boating, certain communities may make more sense than others.

Why take the train? I have a car. if I wanted to take public transit everywhere, I'd sell my car. This is part of why I live on LI as opposed to living in the city. Public transit is AWFUL.

Eh, I've driven from NJ to LI on a Sunday afternoon. NOTHING is worse than that..nothing. Staten Island should be removed from the map.

Detours though. Can't take a detour on a train or bus. Cars allow you more freedom.

And yeah, I agree about Staten Island, lol.

There's no "secret short cut" to get from Jersey to LI. If you think you've got more freedom, you're fooling yourself.

I didn't say that. What I meant is, with a car you can say "i wanna take the GW" or the Bayonne or the Outerbridge. With a bus or train, you can't pick your route. I am also not saying you wouldn't hit traffic with these routes either. Just saying, a car gives you more of a choice of how to go.

So you can spend 5 hours getting home via the Bayonne or 5 hours via the Verrazano or 5 hours via...

..great options!!
