Since all people on Long Island celebrate New Year's Day... I'd like to start the official 2010 Happy New Years thread and wish everyone a very happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.

Happy new years to all!

Instead of partying tonight, I think I'm actually going to stay in and reflect on the passing of this awful decade. Good riddance 2 naughts, or as I liked to call them "the ooooohs".

The civil calendar is based on the Christian calendar, and because the Christian calendar did not have a year 0, the first year of the first decade began on January 1, 1, and the last year of the first decade ended on December 31, 10.

So, sean sean sean sean, the current decade, which began on January 1, 2001, will not end until a year from today on December 31, 2010.

Well it's a federal holiday marking the end of a calendar year. All enjoy either a day off from work, or the ability to earn time and a half. Happy New Year!

Really? What company do you work for? If you are salaried you won't get time and a half, but you should accrue a vacation day.
