We are really unhappy about losing HGTV. It constitutes about 25% of our viewing at this time of year.
I'd switch to Verizon in an instant, BUT:
1 - Who's to say that when scripps' contract with Verizon runs out that FIOS will not balk at the new rates and drop these channels?
2 - Then I'm STUCK with FIOS for 2 years! And, what if I move - which I will likely be doing? WOuld I have to pay a huge termination fee?
3- I don't believe FIOS carries MSNBC.
4 - I don't know if FIOS carries the MLB Extra Innings package to which I am addicted. CV has been laying games withcarrying that package, but in the end, each year they have carried it.
DISH - I would look at this, but can't do dish where I am.
- I have FIOS without a contract.
- Faster & better internet service than Cable Vision
- Billing has been legit every month(I hear in the beginning it was horrible)
- More channels, free movies on demand(which we use alot)
- So many more kids channels
- Way, way, way more channels than CableVision for the same price
- Better picture quality and Hi Def.
And no Iam not employed by, nor a paid advertiser for FIOS.
It just beats Cable Vision hands down...PERIOD!

Hear on the news this morning that cablevision announced that they have ZERO intentions of ever put either networks back on their channel line-up. How could this be?
Well the spokes person for Food NEtwork said it was such a small amount raise in price they were requesting to cover licensing fees and stated it woud have not affected the customer. I think people are going to switch to Verizon and Cable will change their tune.
Well no fios avaliable yet where I am, and I'm not going back to a dish, so I guess we're SOL. Too bad, my wife and I both enjoyed hgtv.
