Have you seen what many people are using for garages/storage lately? They are heavy canvas and steel pole framed "structures" that require no foundation and can be disassembled and put up somewhere else if you wanted to.

I wonder how the town would view them in terms of permits/taxes. I am fairly certain that anyone who is putting them up is not getting permits and the like, but I wonder what is technically and legally true.

I am going to be doing renovations on my home that will take a year or so. I would love to be able to put up one of these to store furniture and such, but I don't want a whole can of worms opened on me for nothing. Any thoughts? Also, where could you get this info verified in writing? I see nothing in the town code.

If this is for furniture storage, etc., I would sooner go with one of the 'pod' containers for an added measure of security and protection from the elements.

None of my clients have used them, so I can't answer your question concerning the tent garages in Brookhaven. If your opening a permit for this construction, it would be best to check with the town first. It would really stink if you wind up with a hard-nosed inspector.

thanks for the input- it's an interior renovation so no structural permit requiring changes. Would just hate to bring it upon myself and have the town interfering on some stupid thing like shed to close to the prp line, deck railing or some other inane issue.
