Abortion is not birth control yet too many women use it as such.
FWIW -- I support Roe v Wade and abortion rights as I do not want to see any woman condemned to a back alley abortion. Yeah, sort of flies in the face of the Republican party. This past year I sat down and revisited my beliefs and realized Republican is a bad fit for me, as is Democrat.

I have a very similar belief system as you. At the end of the day, back alley abortions are not good for society. However, abortion as a form of birth control (pill, condom, abortions) just seems disgusting to me, particularly if the pregnancy is in its 3rd trimester.
I completely understand women who do not have to have a baby conceived by their rapist and I completely understand women whose lives/health is in danger if they carry a pregnancy. This is where many on the right have it wrong.
However, late-term abortions just don't sit well with me. If you didn't want to be pregnant or have a child in the first place, what took you so long to decide to have an abortion. Why not do it as soon as you find out? I guess there more psychology to it (and I'm not psychologist), but chances are if you aren't sure if you should have the child or have an abortion, you should just have the child. An abortion can't be reversed, but you can always put the child up for adoption if you aren't ready.

I share your hope. Although you may get crucified around here for saying anything negative about the democrats. Only the republicans can do wrong around here.

Lawdie, I am so tired of that term being hissed and bandied about.
First, there are tons of "socialist" elements in American society. Drive on paved roads? Know any people collecting Social Security or using Medicare? Kids go to public schools and attend classes taught by teachers paid with tax dollars? Ever call a cop? Or a fire department?
If so, oh, you beneficiary of socialism, you.
Second, the only people who would say that Obama is a socialist are neo-con capitalist swine who get their news from Fox or the Drudge Report.

Late term abortions are a minor fraction of all abortions.

However, I'm personally opposed to all abortions, as for them being illegal I go back and forth on it because it's an ugly situation either way.
You have 2 or 3 people criticizing you here and about 6 who support you, but you're being "crucified"? If you can't take the heat don't get involved in the discussion. Persecution complex....

Your definition of socialism is clearly wrong. Most people I know (right and left) would argue that the government has a proper place in society. I think the issue is when government "bails out" industries, over-regulates to the point of running an industry.

First, birth control fails.
Second, it doesn't matter how the conception happened. If a woman doesn't want to have a child, that's her business, and the whole attitude of "exercising self-control" implies that not doing so carries the "consequence" of a child. That's a pretty lousy way to treat a child.
Third, how do you know "too many women" use abortion as birth control" Are they coming to you and telling you their innermost secrets?
And fourth, I'm assuming you're a woman. As men will never know what pregnancy, abortion, or childbirth and giving a kid up for adoption are like and will never have to face such a decision, as far as I'm concerned, men don't have any talking room on the matter. If they think abortion is wrong, they best be sleeping only with anti-choice women, stocking up on condoms, and volunteering for clinical trials for the male Pill.

He's already courting the ahem, racist groups for backing. Look for your state taxes to go up so he can feed the welfare groups more of your hard-earned cash.

Don't forget besides all that former Governor Cuomo also was instrumental in creating the homeless problem in NY by closing mental institutions because of the school of thought that "people in insane asylums have "rights" and should not be locked up; they should get community treatment." Yeah look how well THAT worked out! I say the mass releases of the mental institution patients had a lot more to do with shady politicians' ability to get at the money budgeted to run the mental institutions, NOT because "crazy people should have the right to decide for themselves if they are insane enough to be in an institution."
To this day, NY'ers are suffering because of this folly. Just look at that woman Kendra who was pushed in front of a subway train a couple of years ago and killed by a mental patient who had begged to stay in the institution, but since policies had changed, he had to be pushed out on the street.
Another thing Cuomo did was put his religion before his office when it came to the death penalty. He didn't believe in the death penalty for religious reasons, so that meant NY could not have it. (However, now that we do have it, nobody gets executed anyway, so what's the use.)

Bailing out private industries with no consequences to said industries using public money, and no government oversight, is Socialist? You need to do some reading, bro, and stop watching Fox News. If the government took over the banks, that would be Socialism. They didn't do that. They gave them taxpayer money, the guys at the top stayed rich, and they're continuing to do pretty much whatever they want.
Maybe in the world of Fox "Obama is the Kenyan born devil who worships Mao" News and talk radio that is socialism, but to most informed people it has no resemblance to it. This country is a corporate ogligarchy, nothing close to Socialism.
Corporate Oligarchy (Corporatocracy)
Corporate oligarchy is a form of power, governmental or operational, where such power effectively rests with a small, elite group of inside individuals or influential economic entities or devices, such as banks, commercial entities that act in complicity with, or at the whim of the oligarchy, often with little or no regard for constitutionally protected prerogative.
If this isn't a definition of what really pushes our system of govt, I don't know what is.
Yet a couple of college drop out pin heads on the radio have everyone convinced we're socialist. Manipulation at it's best. Sorry if it makes you angry dude, but if you think this country is socialist or becoming socialist, you don't have a friggin' clue what you are talking about.

It does not have to do with marriage at all, so staying single will not necessarily save you. Right now you don't have to pay it, but once you reach a certain income threshold, watch out!

A spade is a spade, and I call'em as I see'em. I know very few rational people who would call Obama a socialist. Those who do are usually of the uneducated ilk who read books by the likes of Ann Coulter.
As for your first comment, I'll just have to consider you wrong and you'll just have to accept that I will not see it your way, because I'm of the beautifully elitist point of view that most Americans don't know or understand jack about government--which is why "socialism" is considered a bad word here in the first place.

No complex, and it's simply a metaphor... you use them frequently enough you should understand what they mean.
