Born in Pt. Jefferson, lived in Stony Brook
I was wondering if anyone reading this thread lives in Stony Brook or Pt. Jefferson? I was born in Pt. Jeff, and my ancestors, including my Dad are buried at Cedar Hills Cemetery in Pt. Jeff. I now live in Indiana, but miss my roots!

I lived in Port Jeff Station from the time I was 4 until I was 25. Spent countless hours in the village. I also rented a home in the village in my late 20's.
My closest friend has lived in Stony Brook her whole life. Its still really pretty there.

I've only been there a couple of times and I just loved it. My ancestors too were founders of the area and I think you can feel it in your bones. I've had the same experience in other places that I later found out family had been early settlers.

I am so excited that you have replied! My Dad and Uncle who have long since passed were Volunteer Fireman in Stony Brook, many years ago, back in the 50's. We lived on Bayliss Ave. then. I was still a small child then.
I can still close my eyes and see the Village and smell the salt sea air!
When I was in the 4th grade, our class was over the firehouse, and as I remember the wings on the Eagle had quit flapping. Hope it works again. I remember the Old Apothacary where you could go in and sit down at the counter and ate the most delicios hamburger in the world!
My cousin opened a resturaunt I think was is in Smithtown called the 1800's. She had bought some train cars that a former President had used in his campaigning. Thanks again for answering, you have NO IDEA how you have made my day!

Isn't that something! My family moved away back in 1956 because my Father worked with Republic Aviation, bought out later by Grummon I believe.
But he was a Civil Engineer, and worked with the Air Force Thunderbirds.
He died in 1958, and we moved back [my bother and sister too] to live with our Grandparents'f or a few years. Don't mean to bore you, lol, but I have had such a great flood of memories! Thank you so much for answering.

I lived in Stony Brook from age 12 to age 23. Graduated from Ward Melville HS.
Yeah you can say what you want about LI but Old Stony Brook is beautiful!
Last time I was there the wings still flapped at the PO. 1990's

I grew up in Stony Brook; there was the "Dining Car 1890" restaurant where 25A hit Nicolls Rd., could that be it, or is this something completely different?

The last time I have been back to Stony Brook was for my Grandmother's funeral in 1979. So as you can see it has been quite a while!
Do you know if it is still there? That sure sounds like it could be it!
She had a Presidential theme throughout, and she had a Gift Store by it.
Thank you so much for replying!

Dining Car 1890 became an Indian restaurant, "The Curry Club", several years ago. I think the Curry Club building might still use the railroad car for part of its seating, although I could be wrong; I've never eaten there. (I only come back to town a few times a year to visit my parents).
