I am looking at a house with two furnaces. The second is in the attic and is to heat the extension part of the house. My inspector did not have much to say about itt, but it seems strange, and possibly problematic, to me to have 2 furnaces. The house is under 3000 sft and I believe that each boiler is 100,000 BTU. Any advice? Thanks!

The original funance was not big enough to acommodate the the addition so they added a second and by doing that has created a 2 zone system where the 1 and 2nd floor are 2 zones. This give the homeowner the ability to save energy and money by setting 2 different tempatures.

At night the 1 floor does not have to be as warm as the bedrooms where everyone sleeps. The opposite can be said for during the day if the bedrooms are not used. This also holds true for air conditioning.

This is a very popular and widely used design in almost all new contruction.
