Tree on my property came down in blizzard.
Hmmm, very interesting times I'm living in....
We were enjoying the fireplace and heard a thud.... I went in my backyard and looked to the side of the house.... nothing suspicious, so I dismissed it as one of those "sounds to be ignored as a new homeowner"
When I was putting my daughter to bed I noticed the tree from the side yard has fallen down towards the front of the house. Its a small tree, maybe about 25 ft in height and about 10 inch diameter trunk at the base.
What do I do with this ? Its visible from the front of the house, can I just chop it off and use it as firewood for next season or do I have to do something else ? My neighbor burns wood too and probably he will be glad to help me in this endeavor

Thanks for the quick reply, but I have absolutely no idea what it is. I know its not pine, and the branches are thin.

See if you're neighbor knows or take a branch to a local nursery (if open) and see if they could tell you the species.

Lol, I did go out (believe it or not) abt an hour ago to asses possible property damages, of which luckily there are none.

Cut it up and it becomes next years firewood. Does not matter what type of tree it is.

Certain trees should NOT be used as firewood...

I will do that. In case I cannot cut it up, can home insurance cover this stuff ? I mean to cut it up and leave the wood over there ?
