I bought 2 cinnamon-sugar swirl donuts today at Shoprite. I just have to take a minute to rave about their bakery. It is delicious. I am yet to be disappointed. I have to say that those doughts beat anything that Dunkin Donuts has to sell. I am not a fan at all of Wladbaums or Stop and Shop Bakery.
Shop Rite has the best bakery, always plenty of selection and quality. I just wish there were more around. Why cant other LI supermarkets have a good bakery dept. like Shop Rite?
Also they were almost $2 cheaper on deoderant than Pathmark.
Thats 'nother reason Jersey is better, every town has a Shop Rite!

Don't forget to go when they have the "Can Can" sale going on.
That exact same "can can" commercial must be at least 38 years old because I remember that my son would sing & dance to it when he was just a baby & he will be thirty- seven years old this week .

Shoprite is seriously the best chain supermarket on Long Island. They were going to build one in East Patchogue to replace the old Waldbaums, but I supposedly heard it fell through.
If they had more of a presence on Long Island, they'd school their competition. A&P is #1 in NYC and LI just simply because there isn't many Shoprites around. Shoprite's at the top in NJ and the Hudson Valley, and they're starting to pose a threat to S&S in Connecticut.
I work for ShopRight and they are getting ready to open a super store in Commack, near the movie theater. it will have almost every food imaginable and will be 3 times the size of any current stores on long island.

I guess their thinking is that the new one will be right off the LIE with easy access. I live in Commack and the one in Hauppauge is out of the way for me or a lot of the times I will end up just going to Waldbaums for one or two things. Waldbaums is getting VERY pricey. I need paoatoes and they wanted $1.99 a pound. Giunta's Meat Farms had them for 49 cents a pound. I do like Meat Farms for their produce. I do find their lettuce to need a lot of washing though.
