This is a great thread!!

Can I just ask that all restaurant recommendations have the type of food served next to it?

I really don't mean to be snarky, though there is some attitude to this. Restaurants are ridiculously expensive on Long Island. The markup is insane. I could go to a mid-range restaurant and, for three people (two adults, one 5 year old), easily spend $100. Imagine the meal I could make at home for that?

If I'm going to spend that much money on a restaurant, I might as well hit the city and have an experience beyond the convenience of the meal.

By the way, there is a very very disappointing Mediterranean restaurant on Fort Salonga in Huntington. I can't remember its name, but it was wretched, and I dished out some tall dough.

Mother Kelly's rocks. EVERYTHING is good. Since I moved to Commack it is very out of the way. Stella's in New Hyde Park (or maybe it is Floral Park) is also delicious. You have to try their sausage egg rolls to start.

You spend $100 for yourself, I'm assuming your wife, and your 5-year-old? There's got to be some booze with that. And after all what does a 5-year-old eat? Certainly not an adult dinner. Where is this over priced place? I'll stay away.

My recommendations are as follows:

Jonathan's in Huntington (and they have an early meal menu that helps to cut the price): Northern Italian
Piccolo's in Huntington: Northern Italian
Prime in Halesite: American, but stay away from the drinks, they're exhorbitant

BTW, Fort Salonga isn't in Huntington, maybe part of 25A is in the township of Huntington if that's what you mean, but Fort Salonga itself is in Smithtown. Wow - I'm turning into Walter Greenspan.
