Rocky Point=Mastic??? Thats a bit of a stretch. The east part of Rocky Point in no prize but the rest is nice. I live in Sound Beach and used to live on the South Shore. If you can stand some rocks mixed into your beach sand Rocky Point is a nice little town. Broadway is a bit comical though.
Crooks may be quiet because he may be being baited.
JoePic, Rocky Point =Mastic? Just for that comment I am going to support any raise the police union wants
Rocky point is Mastic beach north in my opinion with the exception that it is between two decent areas, Sound Beach and Shoreham. Kind of like whats between two finely shaped Butt cheeks. Lets face it...many of the "homes" are broken down bungalows. Then you have broadway, locust st, king and prince drives. The shops on 25A with the exception of the new CVS pharmacy are falling apart. I had a buddy witness a fight on the beach during the fourth of July between some white supremacists that live on Pearl. Now I won't say it is all bad...up north you have some decent enclaves overlooking the sound which are gorgeous when you compare them to the mosquito infested reeds of Mastic Beach and to be fair RP has a better chance of pulling itsel out of the primordial slime and into our civilization. Seriously...their are some proponents exclaiming that the prices of homes in RP are excellently priced but there is a reason, just like their is a reason in MB.
In conclusion I cannot say I blame crooks for promoting the place he wants decent people to move in but I don't think he'll find many on this site that fits that description.
When was the last time you passed through.I was there this week. The businesses have gotten much better the last few years and the area is better than Sound Beach.Take a drive through Echo Ave from Miller Place and then hit the back roads of New York Ave,Lower Rocky Point Rd and you'll agree. My only gripe would be that they need to do a better job with the potholes, and whoever originally set the housing lots was probably on crack.Lots of winding roads but a very friendly and safe town. By no means can Mastic or Mastic Beach say the same. Much better school in RP and being near Poospatuck doesn't help MB. Tell me where in RP or nearby there is an area like the reservation? You can also scan the 2 towns and notice how many homes are boarded up and ready to collapse and you'll see RP can't come close to the amount in Shirley,Mastic,or MB. I realize that Crooks might sell his town alot and we all do have our favorites but the truth is the truth. I've worked in all towns from Bayshore to Orient Point and Amagansett on the south shore and i've probably been in almost 1/4 of those homes over the years, but sorry you are just flat out wrong.

Rocky point is a fine little "town" (sorry walter). Its nothing like Mastic. The bungelows are a big part of the history of the area and if you spend anytime researching the history of the little summer vacation areas of days gone by you'll find its a great story. Not everyone can afford to or wants to spend $500,000 on a house with 14k property taxes. Just because the homes are affordable and its not all planned subdivisions of mid-century split levels that people turned into "Victorians" doesn't mean its not a nice place to live. Rocky Point has great community spirit and the reason Broadway is a mess is the same reason MANY main streets on LI are. The SHEEPLE of this island don't support Mom & Pop business. 90% of the middle class on LI would rather gets tons of cheap crap from Walmart or target than shop at local businesses.
To the OP, I guess you haven't been around CD long enough to know this is NOT a fair forum for getting info on LI towns. If you really want to know, take a ride up there this weekend & have lunch in a local place, drive around the town to see if people are outside playing with their kids or working on their home, shop in the stores, drive around after 11pm. Thats the best way to find out if a town suits you, what you consider ideal maybe totally opposite of someone else. For example-you couldn't PAY ME to live in Jericho or Manhasset....all of those areas make my skin crawl. Not typical but very true.
I don't know where Crooks is, but hopefully he's getting ready to announce his run for Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy out, Crooks IN!!!!
So outside of crookhaven, does anyone else have an unbiased opinion of rocky point?
Crooks can't be unbiased
