We are a young swiss family with actually 2 Kids (3rd is expected for december) and we will move to the states in end of july from zurich (switzerland). we found a nice newer house in lake ronkonkoma. and it isn't too expensive.
so i was wondering if someone can tell me something about the area. is it family friendly? are there some possibilties to play tennis.are there som nice places to walk with the dog? how are the two elemantary schools there?
Ronkonkoma can be 2 different school districts, Connetiquout or Sachem both are really good districts. Sachem is larger than Connetiquot. I have friends in both and they like them. There are alot of activities for children in both, and there are many parks.

Hi, why did you pick this area? Where will you be working?
Lake Ronkonkoma is a beautiful area of Suffolk county. You have the lake of course but many other parks, like Connetquot, Nisseqougue, all around. Plus the streets are nicely wooded with oaks and pitch pine.
Shopping is never far, plus you have the LIRR Ronkonkoma line.
The area is very family friendly, and I've always felt safe walking around there. I visit the area often, usually when I do nature walks in Connetquot preserve.
