I grew up in what most consider a good LI "hamlet".
Kids got bored. Then they did stupid stuff, like call in bomb threats.
So, I wouldn't put too much stock into this whole incident.
Most likely it's bored kids being delinquents.

I really dont know anything out this except it seems to be a fairly regular non event around here.Some parent with an axe to grind with an ex or Admin etc.It happend in Miller Place a little while back too.They have to evacuate at the suggestion.Im glad they do.
