I agree with the other comments. It can look like North Amityville in spots, but it's not like it at all. Nothing wrong with being middle class
North Lindenhurst is around 5% Black, not 34%. See here: Mapping the 2010 U.S. Census - NYTimes.com

That's as of the 2010 Census - which wasn't published yet when that post was made well over a year ago. Sure enough, in 2000 they had North Lindenhurst at "33.9% African-American". I dunno how accurate that is, but that's what the number was... personally, I don't ever remember seeing a significant number of black people in North Lindy.

It must've been a typo. They probably meant to say 3.9% Black.

Wikipedia's North Lindenhurst page still has Census 2000 numbers on it, however...

...I think checkmatechamp13 is right, and it was just a typo that has now been corrected. When I checked the actual Census 2000 page, they now have it listed as 3.9% - that makes a lot more sense.

It may have been just some punk who edited the page to make the place look more ghetto, lol.

LOL. Somebody did that for the Port Jefferson Station page and I kept on correcting it (and I left a note in the "Discussion" part of the page)

haha Yeah wiki is pretty unreliable. I have edited/fixed many things on several LI pages.

to stay on topic North Lindenhurst is pretty much a solid middle class area. Not bad at all.... as far as I know.

One of my main problems with North Lindy (I guess it could stand for the area of Babylon as a whole between SSP and Sunrise) is that there are very few sidewalks, only on and right off the major roads, except for the asforementioned pocket of Dutch Colonial homes. Thus it's not very walkable. But North Lindy has the central branch line going through it, so it's even less walkable. In order to get to the pool during the summer LEGALLY, I have to walk 1.5 miles. Geographically, It can't be more than 0.4 miles from my house! A little annoying, but hey, we need the excercise. Most of just walk on the train tracks though. Does anybody know why most of Suffolk county lacks sidewalks? Even the poorest parts of Nassau are still paved.
