Default Attic Venting

we moved into a home last year and I'd like to add some venting for the attic.
It is a cape.

Any suggestions?
Types of vents?

Should I get a contractor? Is it possible to DYI ?(i'm a novice).

Any input appreciated.

i'm in town of babylon.

If you have a ridge vent then that is all you need. If you dont have a ridge vent install a fan.

I just got a new roof put on by Grace roofing in Farmingdale. They just did that on my new roof . They did a great job overall. You should have a roofer do it . Best of luck, Johnny

Attic fan.
If you do have a ridge vent, make sure your soffit's aren't blocked. This impedes airflow.

Luke,

You need to give me more info. The attic finished? Does the house have eaves? If so are there vents? Are there roof vents? Is there a ridge vent? Any attic or whole house fans?

Ridge vent is only 50% of the venting system, you need soffit vents for a ridge vent to work properly.
