Why not just use the map you provided and scroll to the east?

It works.

Wait a minute, RP has it's own Superfund site? Something about throwing stones, and glass houses or something...something.

Yep. That's one of the ways to spot a rich one. Another way is to see what kind of shoes he has on.

Anyone know of a site that allows you to get more specific information?

From what i know, it depends on which way the fund is going. They usually dont go east or west, they normally go toward water, which in my case would be good because a house i am looking at is about 3000 feet to the west.
Back to the real topic ...

I checked the EPA's site (US Environmental Protection Agency) and found that both the sites in RP (Noah's Path and Friendship Drive) are FORMER Superfund sites, as they are in the archived section of Superfund, which means they are not active and require no further work. They were both removal only sites and they were both not on the NPL (National Priority List), which is a good thing, as the NPL list was the one with the most hazardous sites on it. On Friendship Drive, work started on 03/26/86 and was completed on 02/28/1989. On Noah's Path, work started on 12/11/1987 and was completed on 08/10/1989. The cleanups were fully completed both places a long time ago, and as far as the government is concerned, they pose no further health hazards. These sites are no longer considered active Superfund sites and that is probably why you cannot find info on them. It looked to me like what was removed was lead for both sites, but I don't know all the abbreviations in the database (and unfortunately don't have time to look them up). I hope this information puts your mind at ease.

Before you or anyone starts throwing stones, a LOT of communities in NYS have Superfund sites and/or "regular" EPA cleanup sites. They run the gamut from the radioactive to things we would consider "small," so it does not mean RP stands out in a horrible way from anywhere else around here in that respect.

Well it's funny that all I hear in this forum is how great this area is and how horrible that area is, and lo and behold I find today that one of these areas that the light of god has shone upon is also blessed with it's very own Superfund site.

I catch a lot of "stones" about where I used to live and I have a certain sense of schadenfruede when the thrower realizes that what they have their own backyard is more than a little unsavory.
