Are there any companies that deliver Peat Moss on long Island? Buying by the bag is probably gonna cost way to much to cover 3600 SQ feet.

Starting a new lawn. Want to use it as cover after seeding.

You can use a good topsoil with manure mixed in then spread a few bags of peat on top. The man purpose of peat is to hold the moisture in. With proper watering you will not have a problem even if you use a limited amount of peat.
You might also look up Hydro Seading, for a larger piece of property it could cave you in the long run.

Your best bet would be to apply screened compost instead. Peat moss is too acid for turfgrass (lime is almost always needed for turf on Long Island). Compost also has other benefits that peat moss does not, including available bulk delivery.

Compost is great stuff for lawns, gardens and the environment in general...
