Hi All,
I've got a mountain of Beanie Babies in storage that I'd like to donate, but I've read that most hospitals won't take them because they might carry germs or allergens. I found a lot of resources online where I could send them, but the shipping costs would be too much. (Like I said, I have a mountain). Has anyone donated stuffed animals? These are clean, like new, with tags still on and everything. I gave one to my elderly grandmother and it warmed her heart. Do you think old folks' homes would take them? Any ideas appreciated. Thanks!

Before you get rid of them, you might want to make sure you don't have any of the rare ones. The rare ones can fetch over $400, and there's one that's supposedly worth more than $2,000.

You could also sell them in potluck lots on eBay starting at a set price that will cover postage.

But, if you are sure you want to donate them--and it's awesome if you do--why not look into charitable organizations like the Salvation Army? Or maybe a homeless shelter could use them? Or, if they are in mint condition, and you don't have to get rid of them right away, maybe Toys for Tots will take them off your hands next Christmas.

Just tossing out ideas to look into.

Call your local precinct...many police departments have officers keep stuffed animals in their cruisers to give out to children at scenes of accidents, domestic violence, etc...to help comfort them..

There are plenty of charities in your area that will pick up your stuffed animal donations from your home. They should even leave you a tax deduction receipt. Do a quick search on DonationTown.org and you'll find one. Good luck!
