We all should have known this train was coming. I hope Mangano is willing to get tough on this problem, and at least start by firing Peter Schmitt - hard to have any confidence in his administration with that dude at his side....

Nassau officials bet on casino to boost finances

So far Mangano's ideas to fix the structural deficit after his tax assessment proposal are to A) build a giant casino and B) make LI he 51st state.

I think we would have been better off with Suozzi...at least he knew how to handle finances to an extent, even if he never rolled up his sleeves and got his hands dirty. Facing this crisis, he might have. So far Mangano's policy is to "extend (the benefits) and pretend (the problem will go away)"

Maybe NJ can close their deficit by renting out Chris Christie?
