So now wearing gang affiliated clothing is the same thing as wearing an Iron Maiden T Shirt. It's just kids being kids, don't be such a square, man!!
This is getting funnier with every post.

Ah, it's a gang thing, not a sports thing. gotcha.
Why else would a "Hispanic" wear such clothing?
Not even a clever troll dman.
So what did the HR director say? Did you convince him to only hire Hispanics that aren't sports fans?

I thought Hispanics were only into Bull Fighting, Wrestling (as long as they wear masks), and cat juggling

See people blog away and just because they don't see it....doesn't mean it doesn't exist Valley Stream as well as Baldwin and other parts of the Island have had a huge in flux of gangs and gang related incidents. I blog about the Bloods I was running into and having problems with on Grand Ave and people told me I was crazy . Valley Stream being so close to Elmont and Queens you get most of the gangs. But before I left I was seeing a lot more of the S.W.P's there( use to see them mostly in Hempstead) . They aren't necessarily a violent bunch but they aint no saints either. Those MS 13 guys are the most violent but not so many of them in Nassau, more in Suffolk.

I suppose this comment was meant to draw me out, so here I am, at your service.
I would advise you to comment on places you actually know about, which does not include Valley Stream. Just because Valley Stream has more blacks than many towns in Nassau, as Baldwin does, does not mean they are of the same calibre people as the ones in Baldwin.
For example:
Graduation Statistics of the Class of 2008-09 in Valley Stream
99.9% TOTAL GRADUATION RATE
94% of all graduates got REGENTS DIPLOMAS
61% of all graduates got ADVANCED REGENTS DIPLOMAS
96% of all graduates are ATTENDING COLLEGE
College Acceptance for Valley Stream's Class of 2010 include:
Harvard, Brown, Cornell, Duke, Princeton, University of Pennsylvania Wharton School, Polytechnic Institute of NYU, University of Michigan, Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, Dartmouth, Emory, Johns Hopkins, Columbia, Boston College, Univerity of Pennsylvania, Vassar College and Rice University among others.
How's Baldwin Senior High School doing?
For that matter, how's Midlothian Virginia's recent high school grads and seniors doing?
Now tell me again that just because there are more blacks in Valley Stream than the rest of lily white Nassau, similar to Baldwin, that must automatically mean that the kids here are a bunch of gangbangers and criminals.
Just because we are on the border of Queens does not automatically mean the kids are like the worse elements in Queens. That's just an ignorant ASSumption.
We also have a "more than average" number of hispanics in Valley Stream, but you would be hard pressed to find illegal aliens and any of the central american and mexican gangs with a presence in Valley Stream. Yes, for your information, there are actually hispanics who are conservative, have kids that go to college, and are solidly middle class! Just because we are close to Elmont, does not automatically mean we have hispanic gangbangers and illegal aliens just as being on the border of Hempstead does not cause it for Garden City. We do not have a gang presence in Valley Stream, particularly hispanic gangs for the same reasons we do not have an illegal alien problem in Valley Stream ... an active Village government and decent middle class people living in their own single family homes instead of slumlords.
If you don't believe me, ask someone extremely credible, such as "TheTruth08" who actually graduated from VS high school last year and is in college now. If you don't believe me, then have someone you know drive around ANYWHERE in Valley Stream and find any gang graffiti (or any other type of graffiti for that matter).
Sorry Baldwin didn't work out for you, but just because another place in Nassau is also racially diverse, do not tar it with the same brush of the problems you have experienced in Baldwin.
PS: I never liked Baldwin back in the day when it was supposedly "good." Perhaps it has improved some.
PPS: Valley Stream's high schools are also not among the ones riddled with teenage heroin junkies.
PPPS: I already know your wife is black, so please don't trot that out as your "evidence" of non-racism. Racists and bigots can and do make exceptions for "close friends" and "loved ones" as being better or "different" than the rest in their race.
PPPPS: You are " commenting on a messageboard," when you post here, not " blogging." Blogging means writing an online diary. You're welcome.

Reason: the teen junkies are in the "better" LOL towns

Our school district banned all caps, hats, do-rags and hoods at all levels.
There is a problem out there. Given the high school is close to Comsewogue and Port Jefferson (PJV has gang tags) I suppose they want to prevent the students from being targeted by genuine gang bangers.

I am not the designated "sarcastic" one on here.
I knew about the Latin Kings roundup in Huntington Station. BTW, the story you cited (and what I had read about it previously) did not mention anything about their choice of sports team clothing, so unless I am a Latin King, know some, or live near them, how do you expect me to know this? Unlike your wife, I do not work in a place where I have a reason for the police to impart this bit of trivia about the Latin Kings to anyone.
It's interesting to know. I wonder how many "posers" are out there sporting these teams' clothing besides the bona fide LK members ...
Are there other team's clothing that could also be "code" for gang affiliation (LK or other gangs)?
I know that there was a time recently when some of the sports team clothing was actually modified to be attractive to Bloods, Crips, etc., but I believe they got caught and it was taken off the market.
|
If you google "gang apparel la kings" you will come up with the two sites I gave earlier plus others. This site GANG WATCHERS ® will give you an idea of alternate ways they show their affiliations.
The kids who have seized up the 'Gangsta' look have no idea the trouble they could cause themselves dressed like that around the wrong people.

I was thinking about wearing overalls like in the Come on Eileen video. It'll be so retro-trashy!
Too bad the only thing I can make it do is wheeze like an old man with breathing problems.

What's really funny is you just spelled it out perfectly but are too bullheaded to even realize it.
It is wrong to assume every brown person wearing an LA Kings jersey is MS13. Your racist overtones creep out in many of your posts. From judging school districts by how many blacks they have to assuming all hispanic people are illegal and gang affiliated.
This is your problem, not mine.

Sure, many schools banned many items throughout the years. Longwood SD banned roach clips (Feathers). This does not mean every kid wearing a roach clip was a burnout.
Please explain this to dman, he doesn't get it.
More recently, Longwood banned bandana's because the kids were squaring off based on what color they wore on any given day. It became a sub culture. Plenty of white kids did this too. It was in fashion, and was the cool thing to do.
Longwood also had 2 race riots in 4 years but that's another story (I LAUGH my butt off when I read the City-Data mantra regarding what districts are good versus which are bad ).
And all of this stuff is happening in the lily-white neighborhoods you folks deem "Good".
