It is very nice (a friend of mine lives there) but the school taxes are on the high side even for Long Island.
The area south of Montauk Highway (Rt 27a) is the nicest and most expensive.
Great River is also in the East Islip school district. Half-acre zoning and nothing below 750K.

East Islip - Seeking info for a Possible Move!
Hi,
I've lived in brooklyn all my life. I've finally decided to move and start my life and i'm thinking of purchasing a home in East Islip. I'm a quiet person; professional and mature. I have some concerns and would love feedbacks on the following:
1) What is the relationship like among different races? To be more specific - black & white relationship?
2) What is the daily life like for a Mature individual - 30's?
3) Traveling to work to the city - what is that like on a daily basis? Is there and abundant parking spaces at the train station (Islip or Great Plains)?
4) What is the cost of living like?
5) How friendly are the individuals?
6) Is the crime rate high?
7) Are there many Single woman homeowners out there? and how is life for you?
Thank you in advance for the feedbacks.

East Islip is nice but how does "average home price $496K and affordable" go in the same sentence? I guess if one has a salary of $125k+ and wants to spend disproportionately for shelter and shortchange other parts of their budget compared with other parts of the country, then its "affordable".

This is an extremely old thread and the person who had bumped it up has already reposted a newer duplicate post so I will just close it now and anyone may respond to the new post.
